Quote from MaximUK :Does SoftTH allow the centre monitor to run at a different resolution to the side monitors? I have a single 22" 1680x1024 monitor at the moment but I have 2x 1280x1024 19" monitors. Could they be used together ok in LFS?

Maxim

With the TH2GO Adapter you could run all these three Monitors on 1280 x 1024.

(Edit: part of this set)

Uh, pic didn't work. Anyway - are those 22"s of the 4:3 variant? If so, what brand are they? They look pretty sharp. Would love some big sized 4:3s to replace my misc. config setup.

They are widescreen, I run 3 x 1280x1024 with 2xAA and 2xAF. Widescreen Resolution is also available.

that looked like..............the ultimate cockpit you can have for any racing game.

two questions: how did you get the shifter and the clutch pad, and how did you integrate it with the momo

cheers

For the Shifter I bought the Act Labs 2006 Shifter, pretty solid and feels good when shifting. And it's only 60 Dollars, I recommend it because of its size and the superb feeling, it makes alot of difference even if you already have the G25. I even like the shifting Feeling more than the feeling when shifting in my real car. Feels like Maserati

For the third Pedal I just took some older Wheel that I still had and cut a bit of it away. 3 USB Gameport things connected at the same time but its no problem.
But I'm tired of buying new Plastic Pedals and Wheels every year or two, so as soon as they start to get worn out and fall apart I will buy some Professionell Simulation Pedals like from FREX or VPP. They dont break down in a lifetime and are of much better quality and material. I would prefer the FREX Pedals as of now, with the Sim Clutch + Feature that simulates a Clutch Feeling, while VPP also has great pedals with Clutch feel, but FREX will come out in the following weeks with a new Pressure-Sensitive FF Brake Pedal that can simulate locked wheels or ABS Brake Pedal behaviour.

LFS on three Monitors is awesome

I just have to say how much fun it is to Race Live for Speed on triple screens, its breathtaking and so immersive, I love it and would like to recommend it to every Race simmer. All you need is a TH2GO Adapter (€250) and three 19inch screens (€600). In my case its three 22inch.

Any other LFS driver with this setup? Show a Picture!

LFS gives the best experience in this than any other Sim I play, in NASCAR Racing 2003 it is still totally awesome, but you dont see much more of the track, and in GPL you have thick borders at the top and bottom of the screen, so LFS gives the ultimat immersion.

Quote from frankwer :LFS dudes are welcome to write anything about LFS if they dont include the usual bashing of other racesims in their articles.

No one's bashing. There must be a good LFS Writer out there who could add some stuff about LFS to ASS. ASS is not only about new Mods.

Due to its popularity and depth of the Sim it deserves a regular place in that Magazin.

What about the Gear Change Indicator, the small Red light. The Gear Change light should only be in cars that have them like Formula cars or GTR cars (not sure about GTR tho), not in Road cars.

Thats good to hear. The difference between the Wheel and the Ingame Wheel is very important. The Physics in a Sim can be as good as they want but only to a certain point when the input is lagging.
Most of the lag will be from the Hardware, wonder if the Wheel producers have improved there Hard and Software to keep the lag as low as possible.

Quote from BuddhaBing :... including their staff.

Does Car & Driver rely on their readership to submit articles about, say, Mercedes-Benz while their in-house staff write article after endless article about every other manufacturer in the market? Does F1 Magazine call on their readership to submit articles about Renault F1 while packing their magazine full of fluff pieces about all the other teams? No, of course not; the idea is ludicrous.

The fact that AutoSimSport does not cover LFS is entirely a conscious decision on their part. They have staff writers; they have editorial staff. If they truly wanted to provide LFS coverage, they would devote staff resources to doing so. They haven't. Read into that what you will.

Please keep in mind that this AutoSimSport Online Magazine is not like any company you mentioned, it is not like any Magazine you could buy at a Shop.

This Magazine is for free, written by people like you and me who share the same hobby and write something about it, they simply do not have writers and Articles for Live for Speed. Do you want some GTR2 or rFactor Fanboy writing about Live for Speeds Physics for example? The best people to write about LFS are in the LFS community.

Quote from Dajmin :I can appreciate that it does look like lack of effort on their part, but I do think you need community input to publicise something like this. It's easy enough to stumble upon GTR2 stuff because it'll have a massive PR budget, but indie products are always harder to push into the limelight.

It would take so many employees to cover every single 'sim' on the market that I don't think it's unreasonable to ask the community for help. Especially since (as I've said before) the LFS community has the reputation of being very exclusive and keeps itself to itself - we don't mind, but it's not good for promotion.

I said last time that I'd like to be able to do these kind of articles, but I'm not sure I'm qualified Also, as was also said the last time, LFS is the odd one out in the above list because it's not even close to being considered finished. Is it fair to promote something that's likely to change quite a lot before release?

It would be nice if you could write something. I think it is fair to promote something that isnt finished yet, because alot of things in Live for Speed are more finished than in other Sims.

The Reader should be kept aware that Live for Speed is work in Progress, but nevertheless its worth buying it already, to get a Sim that is more finished than other things currently on the Market.
AutoSimSport needs Articles about Live for Speed for God's sake

AutoSimSport is the most popular Online Racing Simulation Magazine in the World. Thousands of readers every month.

Live for Speed is the most popular Online Racing Simulation in the World. Thousand drivers Racing it every day.

LFS got more people Racing Online than any other Simulation.

So why do these things not find together? Why do we have 40 pages in ASS about GTR2, 20 pages about rFactor, 10 pages about GPL and 0 pages about LFS?

Simply, there is nobody who wants to write Articles about LFS. Alot of people who race other Sims have no idea about LFS superb tyre physics, they look down on LFS as it looks like an Arcade Game on first sight, most people do not know LFS got tyre flex for example.

If you can write and are interested in doing so just for once, or regularly, for the interest and benefit of Live for Speed please consider writing Articles about LFS.

It can be anything, you could describe what the LFS Physics do, what does make LFS unique and how does it differ to other Sims, you can write an overview about the Leagues that LFS has, you can write about the latest Test Patch Progress, you can write about some great Race like the 24 hours Race last Week, you can write about everything that is interesting to you.

Alot of people in the Racing Simulation Community have never heard of LFS, alot of people think it looks like an Arcade Game. So if you got the will to write something, please do so, AutoSimSport would like to publish more Articles about LFS, if only they would get something from us. So please think about it.

Thanks alot Niels very interesting.

So what is the conclusion of all of this - how can one decrease the lag between steering wheel and ingame wheel, what are the important settings to keep the lag as low as possible?

Did you try EnditAll2? Its a small program closing all programs running in the Background. Perhaps there is something installed on your PC that brakes down the Performance everynow and then?

I agree with you duke_toaster. But GTR or Formula cars are a different matter - its about getting Rid off all driving Aids on a Server with the cars who represent Road Cars.

Quote from duke_toaster :Sequential gearboxes in cars that should have them (IRL, UF/XF/FX/ZR/FZR would have sequentials) isn't a driving aid.

It depends on what is supposed to be a Road Car in LFS. Dont think a UF ( Mini Cooper ) has F1 Paddle Shifting for example

Quote from duke_toaster :I am not telling anyone how but I have thought a way that - without removing come features completely- could make a mockery of a forced shifter and clutch axis.

If it's exploitable by a dumbass who knows nothing about programming (me), imagine what cheaters could come up with.

You perhaps mean configuring other buttons as H-Gated Gears, or configuring outside programs like Logitech Profiler to do clutched Gearchanges for you, some people aiming to cheat should not destroy the idea to have a Server with H-Gate shifters and / or clutch Pedals shifters.

Quote from Fischfix :this is going to be a lonely server...

So that Topic shouldnt bother you should it?

Perhaps the name Hardcore Mode is really the Problem to some, like Hyperactive said. Hardcore Mode implies a step over the default Simulation Mode. Maybe we should stop calling it Hardcore Mode, if thats the problem for some. Lets call it "driving-Aids-Free" Mode

I would like to suggest that when leaving a Server the player should get back to the Raceserver list Screen and not to the connections Screen.

Really like this idea not only for sorting the Race List Server....

IF / WHEN we would get a Rating System on Public Races, we could get a Rating value for every discipline like a Rating for Rallyieng, another for Racing and like that..
George Kuyumji
S2 licensed
Quote from Fischfix :if this is possible, then why not let the grid rearange in the correct racing order?

"overtake the car in front"
"let the car behind you pass"

something like that...

one more improvement suggestion: an option to let people join a server only if there is a brake at the moment and no race going on.

In NASCAR Racing 2003 the Team Boss tells you on the Radio if you need to pass a car infront or let somebody overtake you, he tells you where the Safety car is at the moment, when the Restart will be and so on.

But aslong as there is no Pit Radio in LFS Text Messages would do it.

Dont like the suggestion to not let people join a Server during a Race. But then any Server should be able to run how the Host want it

Quote from Fischfix :serverside pacecar triggered by admin

its just a simple AI script. car stands at the end of pits, when triggered, pacecar drives out (full course yellow), keeps a speed of max 150km/h. drives 3-5 laps (depends on track and settings), drives back into pits (race free again).

overtaking a car which does not cause a yellow flag = spectate
overtaking the pacecar = spectate
crashing the pacecar = spectate

option: pits closed while pacecar out, pits closed in lap 1 while pacecar out,...

Would be nice to have. But I dont like your penalty ideas.

When you drive during a Pace Car Phase for some time, and you throw the car from side to side, do some wheelspin and just mess around a little, you occasionally pass the front car who was just brake testing, it happens often but you let him back in front so you should only get a message to let the car behind pass you. If you dont let him repass you at the Start you should get a drive through Penalty not kicked to Spectating.

But it works fine in other Sims. Would you never like to Race a long Race with alot of drivers? Its huge fun to have a 43 car Grid at any Track. Watkins Glen has a Laptime of 1 minute and 15 seconds, with 43 cars on it its still manageable and Great fun just aswell as on the old Nurburgring where 43 cars is normal, but it works on smaller tracks aswell. Aston Club with 30 Mini Coopers in LFS?? BRING IT ON

Quote from Thorvertonian :But will LFS go the whole hog, if you can jump start, does that mean you have to apply the handbrake to stop yourself rolling while revving on the clutch/in neutral?

I think it will. I remember starts in Spa in Grand Prix Legends, where the Starting Grid was before Eau Rouge in 1967, so it was going downhill. Before the start you had first Gear in - one foot on the clutch, one on the throttle and the brake, to prevent the car starting to roll down by itself before the Start.

Good that the Options we were calling for made it into the list.

What do you all think about the Restart Race time. It is only 3 seconds. Hard to get ready when your just about to tweak the Setup or do something in the Options. I would reckon the Restart Counter should start at 30 seconds, with a Sound file played with it. GPL has 24 seconds, NASCAR Racing 1 minute, so your always in a Hurry when you have only 3 seconds to get Ready to Race...
